If I had a photograph….

Some of the shots that Libby Bulloff took during my Seattle visit arrived today. Here are a couple, color and b/w of the same image, taken in front of the EMP Museum:

Mirrored from Kristine Smith.

It's no wonder you wrote Jani. That's all.

Oh, and they're stunning.

Thank you, ma'am.

That said, I am still adjusting to mid-50s me, which is a tad different than early 40s me, which was the iteration that started this regular professional photography thing.

Those are lovely! I'm sorry I missed you when you were here!

It would have been great to meet you in person!

It was a Norwescon trip--I only managed to get into the city for a couple of short visits. But the weather was lovely, I had a great time, and I want to come back.

Ah! That explains it! I wasn't at the convention. My brother, sister-in-law, and niece were in town that weekend and I couldn't bear the thought of subjecting them to the onslaught that is Norwescon. Another time, though, for sure!

Very nice portraits!

But - there's an Electromagnetic Pulse Museum?

Experience Music Project Museum, also the site of the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.

I didn't get the chance to go inside, but the exterior was pretty neat.

Oh, those are wonderful!

Thanks--Libby is the same photographer who took so many cool steampunk shots of Cherie Priest. I decided that if/when I was able to make it out to Seattle, I would try to book a session with her.

The one thing that bums me out is that I felt lousy during that shoot. The upper respiratory bug had just taken hold--I awoke that morning with a nasty sore throat, unable to talk. The voice improved as the day went on, but the rest of me didn't.

So I'm glad we got some good shots.

Oh, that's a wonderful photo. And, er, I don't think I've ever seen a picture of you before, and I must say, dayum, woman, you hot.

You look stunning and sophisticated. These are lovely.

Thanks. Libby said in her email that I looked "serene." I felt awful--see above comment. But it was a lovely Sunday afternoon in Seattle and I managed to muddle through.

You look great! Do you like them?

I think they look like me. I am still waiting for some other shots, both exteriors at the EMP and interiors at the studio, but I like these.

I have let my hair grow, so I don't resemble that person exactly anymore. But they're solid professional shots, and I'll feel confident using them.

I just need to adjust to the facts that 1) I am getting older and 2) no matter what others tell me, I don't feel that I photograph well. But those are my issues to deal with.

Lots of people hate seeing photos of themselves... you probably know this already, but it's true.
