Sam Vines could be Guard of Honour (in all its permutations) perhaps.
I haven't read all the books, just the more recent and a couple of the earlier. I prefer the ones in the past five years, personally. The others overload my silliness-meter.
The more recent Discworld books are fine, but I prefer the silly ones.
