Ok day

release the penguins
Annual physical today. Well, annual plus 1.5 years. I have, according to my doctor, the blood pressure of a teenager. 120/70, which is low for a doctor's office reading, given that I have in the past been a card-carrying member of the White Coat Syndrome Club.

Cholesterol's down a little. HDL is up and LDL is down, thanks to the running. I've lost a few pounds, though not as many as I'd hoped. Need to follow up on an issue that has proven non-serious in the past and will hopefully continue to do so. Need to schedule a test that I've been putting off for a few years but need to have now that I will be turning 50. *blech*

Fingers crossed the old carcass will continue to see me through.

In other news, the weather is insane. Mid 40s (F) this morning. Tomorrow morning, we may hit 0 F, with windchills of 25 below. A little snow, but the main issues will be black ice and whiteout conditions due to the wind gusts of up to 45 mph.

Can you say, "Utter bullshit"? Sure, I knew you could.

Me (at last physical, a few months ago, to doctor who is mid-40s): And as for the various aches and pains--

Him (with a grin): Just wait until you're 70.

Just wait until you're 70.

I can wait.

I already feel twinges in my hands. I'd like at least one new knee, and I'd like to trade in my feet and ankles, please.

You're turning 50? HOLY CRAP!

I mean, I was briefly introduced to you like 6 or 7 years ago, and I thought you were about 30 then.

Was it at a Worldcon? I swear, people are intro'd to me at Worldcons, and I just don't remember.

As for the 50 stuff--bless you. I *wish* I was in my late 30s. I would happily reside in my late 30s for 100-150 years, until it came time for me to shuffle off this mortal coil.

Who am I kidding--I want to live forever.

Unfortunately, I'm ahead of you on both.

-70 drop in temps including windchill. Ouch!

The procedure really isn't bad - it's the prep the day before. I don't see how anybody can drink a full gallon of that stuff.

If we include windchill, our drop was 65 degrees or so. I'm more than happy to let you win that one.

That's what I've heard. I did get the instructions four years ago, when it was initially scheduled. They seemed to boil down to "you know all that refined, fiberless stuff you're not supposed to eat? That's all you can eat for a week."

After a week of that, I would need a gallon of whatever. Although my doctor said that they also have pills now. I need to talk things over with the nurse.

Fun.
