70 Days of Sweat

paperwork
I would dearly love to get the first draft of the wip finished, or pretty damn close to finished, before Wiscon. That goal dovetails nicely with this exercise in masochism, which I stumbled over by way of of [info]difrancis' blog. I signed up. It runs March 1 through May 16, so I have a couple of weeks to build up momentum.

Anyone with me???????

Sounds like a plan. :-)

To quote Janine from Ghostbusters, "WE GOT ONE!!!"

Whimper. I don't see how I can while I'm at the convention in New Zealand...they have me scheduled heavily (and no wonder, since they're paying for it...)

I have a trip to NYC at the end of March, 5-6 days where I likely won't get anything done. I wasn't planning on bringing my laptop, but I'll see how it goes. If I'm on a roll at that time, I may take the old iBook and at least try to write. I don't know if I can write extra in the days leading up to the trip and bank the overage.

But I need a kick start. As things stand, I write *after* I've done everything else. I need to make it my top priority. I never thought I'd ever see it as an issue, but when it comes down to "write for an hour, or go out and shovel snow so you can get out of your driveway," writing doesn't always win. At least not this &^%$#@ winter.

Understood.

I've gotten better at producing while on the road, but not good *enough*. I can't really relax into the story and since I'm back to writing fantasy, that's kind of a have-to.

And secondly...wow, New Zealand...

Yeah. Three weeks. Only six days are tied up with the convention and its aftermath but I don't know how much I'll get written on the travel days to and from.

To 70 or not to 70... that is the question
I'm looking at that 70 days and dreaming of the motivational shove that always comes from setting concrete goals like that... but I also know J & I should probably continue editing and revising, and once that is finished and fine-tuned, there are oh-so-many unfinished pieces to delve back into, characters who are looking at us with big eyes, wanting to go somewhere beyond mid-scene.

But oh, the lure of a shiny new toy.

Well, it doesn't specify that you have to work on a single project.

Although it is difficult to do a word count on edits and revisions.
